Atkins Diet Recipes: Buffalo Wings

bowulf asked:

These wings are some of the best reasons to go on the Atkins Diet. They are completely legal for all phases of the diet and absolutely delicious. The Diet Coke is a unique ingredient, but it really does the trick. I think by adding the wings to the simmering sauce, the collagen helps thicken the sauce as well. Ingredients 3 pounds chicken wings, separated at joints, tips discarded 1 cup Louisiana-style hot sauce (Franks Hot Sauce recommended) 1 can Diet Coke with Splenda 1 tsp cayenne pepper …

Cane sugar is still a refined sugar and will cause a insulin reaction.

I would suggest you watch my maintenance phase video “How to prove everyone wrong?”, and see what lifelong Atkins actually is. Most people confuse Atkins with the first 14 day period and level of carbs. What your ultimate carbs on the maintenance phase is whatever you can tolerate and still maintain your weight.

    Losing weight without starving yourself

I know you say the atkins is a life-long change in eating habits. But, I’m Italian, I can’t do this forever. If I restrict my carbs as much as possible but go back to a “normal” way of eating after I get all my weight off, will it all come right back? Is there a proper way to transition back? I know what your stance is on sticking with it, but for me it’s just not likely to happen forever. I hear a lot about it all coming back on the transition back, any suggestions for me? Thanks!!!

Peanut oil is best. If you can’t afford that, purchase an oil with a high smoke temp like corn oil.

Then I would encourage your nutritionist to post because it is apparent you (and perhaps he/she) have no clue on the difference on ketosis and ketoacidosis. How low carb dieters can’t enter the dangerous ketoacidosis which only happens in the presence of carbs (almost always Type 1 Diabetics) not the lack thereof.

Here’s some unbiased information about ketones. You should pay particular attention to the part where it says “any detectable level of ketones is abnormal”.

Lose weight now – Stay slim forever

The principle behind the Atkins Diet is getting your liver to secrete additional Ketone. Yes, Ketone, as in the toxic solvent you can use for removing crazy glue, etc. The problem is, there is a fine line between having ketones in your system, and your body entering ketosis, which is documented to cause gout, kidneystones. My nutritionist says at high enough levels, ketosis can result in death.

hahaha wake up it is nothing but a marketing scheme, you have be had. There is plenty of information out there and natural healthy ways of dieting that don’t have ANYTHING to do with atkin’s. He has just used you to make a few bucks, get over it.

So here is your challenge for your next post:
    * further the discussion by using studies on where I am wrong
    * read any of the Dr. Eric Westman peer-reviewed studies regarding the protective nature of a ketogenic diet.

This simple bomb throwing exercise has gone on long enough.

You know you being preposterous. “I don’t eat carbs for energy, so I am burning my own cells.” Why do you think I am eating the fat? Fat is a great fuel source. As your next assignment if you want to continue the dialogue, check out the Dr. Eric Westman study with Duke University where he says a ketogenic diet like Atkins is actually PROTECTIVE of lean body mass like organs and muscles.

When was your last marathon? I ran mine a few months ago. I didn’t need carbs for that.

Well if they are making it with aspartame they would be making wrong because aspartame is not heat stable, and it probably doesn’t taste good. I can’t account for people wrong choices or doing wrong things.

No I am making a rational choice. You should try it. Read the literature, evaluate the sources, perhaps even do your experiments, and then come to your own conclusions.

Ok to further the conversation – show me one study that links Splenda consumption with cancer and the required daily intake.

    Metabolism and Your Weight

Look out there at the message being repeated by most mainstream outlets – Calorie In, Calorie Out and stay away from saturated fats. You must be in tune with another mainstream media than me because all I get is how wrong the Atkins Diet is.

    Fastest Way to Lose Weight

So how exactly have I been duped again? b/c I think the atkins is BS? When did mainstream media ever say that? when has mainstream media ever told the truth? if mainstream media advocates the atkins diet, you can be damned sure its not a good thing…

…and yes I’m sure you started gettin into atkin’s diet b/c of the mainstream media…… and yes people have died because they dont eat carbs, you need carbs to burn for energy instead of burning your cells or organs, which is what killed them.
